Fraught

A friend of mine once said to me, “When you meet someone, anyone, they’re fighting a war you know nothing about.”

Since 9-11, we've been unbalanced, unhinged, and uncertain. A stubborn pandemic, economic uncertainty, climate catastrophes, and polarized political upheaval define a global environment that charitably can be called, “fraught.” And while all of us have coping mechanisms, a fight or flight reflex that we use to get through these times, the subliminal impact of this massive upheaval distorts and shapes how we interact and how we feel about ourselves and our world.

This series captures that distortion--the unseen but perceptible baggage we all carry around as we try to reach a sense of normality. These images are captured auras, the surrounding fields of feelings that all of us unconsciously project and sense rather than actually see.
